Seems like becoming a better and safer rider should be at the top of everyones to-do list. However the reality is much different on the street. Overconfidence or better still, false confidence in your ability to control a motorcycle in a stressful situation seems to be the norm. Sort of reminds me of the guy over on Landsdowne Road, who told me he "laid it down" to avoid a collision. Haven't heard that term lately! Seems "laying it down" hasn't really been a needed technique for some years, and especially since disc brakes arrived. Flat fact is, the man had no evasive action plans or skills available to him.
